Echofon Lite for Twitter App Reviews

Seriously. Its a shame the old Twitter API stopped working. This new update is just terrible, particularly the UX. Dates are being overlayed on top of my tweets too; I wrote to them a few days ago and I STILL havent gotten a response from them as to why this is happening. Shame really, it was such a good app. Hopefully they fix some of these issues. Ill move on to web ui until then.

*Droplr* support for photograph, video and url shortening *Pocket* support for saving links its nice the developer updated for Twitters 1.1 api, but Twitpic and bit.ly still?

Still on Snow Leopard, Echofon appears to have dropped support for 10.6.8. Unfortunately, since I am on EF 1.6.2 and the newest 1.8 has been pushed to the App Store, Im out of luck since the updates for the new Twitter API are only >= 10.7. Disappointing choice, since 1/3rd of all OS X users were still on Snow Leopard as of a few months ago.

The stupid side tab keeps openening up and showing me random tweets on my timeline. It also interrupts does this while Im trying to read my conversation. & it happens within seconds, repeatedly.

I’m glad you listened to your users to bring back the Mac version, but it took too long. I already went out and bought a competitor app and I’m not coming back to Echofon again.

Would give this app a full 5-stars if it worked like it used to. The drawer pops open every time a new tweet arrives, even if the app is minimized. The last couple words are often left off of the timeline view (but appear in the drawer). Very annoying. The app used to work seamlessly — I wish someone at Ubermedia would help us!

Been using Echofon for ages, since it was Twitterfon on iOS. This most recent update includes a feature where clicking anywhere on a tweet message opens the tweet in the drawer. Not sure why they think this is useful, but Id like a toggle control to be able to turn it off. Also, new style retweets seem to have one or more words cut off at the end in the timeline. Also would be nice if they integrated some of the media features from the mobile version into the desktop version, e.g. with how instagram links are treated vs preview images (when its a video). Vine integration would be nice too.

I LOVE Echofon on my iPhone, iPad, and I used to love it on my Mac. This latest update is awful. While echofon still works properly for me, the drawer opening up ALL THE TIME with whatever random tweet it wants to is unacceptable. I tried reaching out to them via Twitter but received no response so I thought a review here might help. Fix this one little thing and I will come back and edit this post and immediately give 5 stars. Until then, this is horrible and I’m using another client on my Mac.

Its the best Twitter app out there! The simple fact that it keeps my Twitter synced between my iPhone, iPad and Mac is just marvelous! With that, I dont have to read the same tweets over and over again! If you use Twitter on more than one device, its highly recommended to give it a try! But why the low rating then? Heres the reason: This last update corrected a really nasty bug that came with the previous version, where the drawer would always open/close whenever a new tweet arrives. The low rates isnt because of the bug, but because the devs didnt communicate at all about the matter(not even if they knew about it or were working on it). TLDR: the app rate is 5 of 5, but the team behind it is like 2 of 5.

I like the simple interface, but the spotty conversation viewing functionality is a deal-breaker. It will only show you whether a tweet was a reply to an earlier tweet. If a tweet *started* a conversation and spawned lots of replies but was not itself a reply to something, you don’t get to see that. You also get no indication that you are missing something, unless you are lucky enough that someone else you follow is among the repliers, or the original tweeter replied to some of the replies. Ubermedia’s website says that the app "uses handy indicators to show which Tweets have […] conversations etc.”, but this is misleading.

the new banner on people’s profiles takes up too much space. There should be an option to where there isnt a banner

"Your Pin Was Invalid" This statement comes up as Im staring blankly at a white screen. There is no way to sign in anymore so this app is now officially useless….

I have been having an issue with sync between my iPhone and Mac for several weeks. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times on both devices, and this did not fix the issue. I’ve been tweeting to @echofon over the course of several weeks, and they have yet to acknowledge me. I’ve visited their support page and started a discussion which they have yet to reply to. I love this thing when it works, but apparently when it doesn’t, good luck getting them to help you.

This app is way better than Twitter’s official app! I love the unread tweet syncing!

Unfortunately recently stopped working on mac… Please fix.

This is my all-time favorite Twitter client for how minimal and intuitive it is! I’m delighted that it’s still getting updates.

Instagram still does not display in desktop version 1.8.5. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and Instagram still does not display in line. In fact, Instagram URLs do not even open in a web browser.
